Xanthosoma (Caladium lindenii) is a unique tropical plant from Colombia that is one of the most aesthetically stunning houseplants you can cultivate. Large, arrow-shaped green leaves with eye-catching creamy-white veins characterize this plant. Even variegated varieties will stand out among your other indoor plants. Xanthosoma grows 2 to 3 feet tall as it matures, making it an excellent floor plant for warm, sunny areas. It's a great specimen for bright desktops and tabletops while it's young.
- Light - Xanthosoma prefers a medium to bright, indirect light source inside. It grows well in both natural and artificial light (such as fluorescent or LED bulbs). Avoid direct afternoon sun, especially if you live somewhere with scorching summers.
- Water - When the top couple of inches of the potting mix are dry to the touch, water the plant. Make sure your xanthosoma doesn't become too wet. The leaves prefer to stand upright when adequately hydrated. The leaves get droopy when it becomes thirsty.
- Humidity - When cultivated indoors, Xanthosoma enjoys relative humidity levels that are higher than usual. The leaf tips and edges may get brown and crispy if the air is excessively dry.
Tips: These plants like to be kept in bright lights, so look to grow near a window that gets lots of indirect light and they also like to be kept warm so avoid draughts. The typical size of Lindenii kept indoors is usually three feet.
