Halamanin's Agricultural Lime, also known as Apog, Garden Lime or Agricultural Limestone, is a gardening material commonly used to adjust soil pH and improve soil fertility. It is made from crushed limestone or dolomite, which contain calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate.
The primary purpose of agricultural lime is to raise the pH level of acidic soils. Acidic soils, with a pH below 7, can be detrimental to plant growth as they limit nutrient availability and hinder proper root development. By applying agricultural lime, the pH of the soil can be increased, making it more alkaline and creating a more favorable environment for many plants.

In addition to adjusting soil pH, agricultural lime also provides essential nutrients to plants. Calcium and magnesium, present in the lime, are important macronutrients that contribute to plant growth and development. These nutrients are necessary for the formation of strong cell walls, enzyme activation, and overall plant health. Agricultural lime is commonly used in gardening to improve soil structure and fertility. It helps to break up heavy clay soils, allowing for better water drainage and root penetration. This improves aeration and prevents waterlogging, promoting healthier root systems.

How to Apply:
To apply lime to individual plants, loosen the soil around the plants carefully to avoid injuring roots (to a depth of 7 inches) and work the lime into the soil with your hands or a small gardening trowel.

Potted plants may also benefit from an annual application of lime. Add 1 tablespoon of hydrated lime to 1 gallon of water, and water as usual.
