Homalomena are native tropical to subtropical plants found in humid climates such as Columbia, Costa Rica, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The heart-shaped leaves of the Rare Homalomena Black plant produce exceptionally dark green to black leaves and have become a popular houseplant due to its ease of care, disease resistance, and tolerance to low light and stress.

  • Light - Each day, get at least 4 hours of filtered sunshine from an indirect source.

  • Water - Keep the soil evenly moist, but allow it to dry out when the leaves start to die back in fall. Do not overwater.
  • Humidity - Increase moisture levels by growing in a high-moisture environment or using a humidifier. Misting on a regular basis might also assist to increase humidity.

Tips: Homalomena care dictates a moist but not waterlogged soil. Dry soil will turn the foliage yellow and spartan. Low humidity will cause browning along the leaf edges.
